Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dentistry has always been a meaningful part of Dr. Sucre’s life. Growing up in a family of dental professionals, she was surrounded by the field from an early age, which naturally inspired her passion for helping others through oral healthcare. Over time, she discovered how much she enjoyed not only restoring smiles and relieving discomfort, but also connecting with patients on a personal level. Today, she finds fulfillment in making a positive difference in people’s lives, whether that means getting someone out of pain or helping them feel more confident in their smile.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Sucre began her dental education in Caracas, Venezuela, where she earned her initial dental degree from Universidad Santa Maria. After gaining experience in private practice and participating in community service efforts to support underserved populations, she moved to the United States to further her training.
She completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Boston University, where she was recognized with the Clinical Excellence Award for her skill and dedication to patient care. She later continued her journey at Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree and being inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a prestigious national honor society.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Sucre spent several years teaching and mentoring future dentists as a General Supervising Faculty member at Boston University, while also contributing to research within the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Sucre enjoys staying active and making the most of her time with loved ones. She loves working out, especially weightlifting and boxing, and takes every opportunity she can to travel and explore new places. At home, she enjoys spending time with her family and their energetic wiener dog, Oscar.
Before pursuing dentistry, Dr. Sucre was also a professional synchronized swimmer for many years, representing Venezuela in national and international competitions. The discipline, precision, and focus she developed through athletics continue to influence her approach to patient care today.
